Sydney, Australia

We did a LOT in Sydney, so this is going to be one of my longest posts yet!

Sydney is where we met my Mommy!!! Zac and I were really really excited about this. We were so excited in fact that we accidentally took the wrong train and went FAR in the opposite direction...luckily she was still there when we showed up though :) So exciting!!

 EXPLORED THE CITY

Cool stained glass in the Queen Elizabeth Building
We explored Sydney largely by foot and sometimes by bus, first with a friend, Niall, that we met in Thailand last year, and then again with Mom. We discovered churches, statues, a woman's prison, nature, great streets, great food, and the Queen Elizabeth Building.

A cool building

TARONGA ZOO

We spent the day together at the Sydney Zoo and had a GREAT time! We enjoyed the cable car rides and spent most of our time checking out animals in the Australian Walkabout.

We got to see platypuses too! This was pretty exciting for me - I wrote on these adorable animals in Grade 6 and received an A ++ :)

EXXOPLIS AIR

We headed down to the Harbour Front for the first time to check out an event beside the Sydney Opera House. On the walk there we found buskers, musicians and some huge boats.

DARLING HARBOUR

This is the area we stayed in and we really liked it. There was plenty going on for the Sydney Festival, as well as a park and "Movies in the Park" for kids at night.

Getting delicious fruits in the market :)

Ice cream and swings!

SYDNEY FESTIVAL

The festival was going on when we were in the Sydney as the city for ready for Australian Day. It was really great timing and the streets and events were overflowing with people from all over the country.

We loved this event: Merchant's Gate. The building image is on the ground and there is a mirror above to create some really cool shots.

Another event: Library in the Park! LOVE

We spent the day here enjoying the cute cafes, sun, sand, and surfers. Loved it!

SYDNEY SYMPHONY AT THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE!

For our last night in the city we opted for a night at the Opera House. There was a special event going on for the Sydney Festival that combined the Sydney Symphony with a film by Godfrey Reggio.
