| Arriving in Venice |
It was absolutely mind blowing here! It was the beautiful, picturesque background we expected combined with an electric and creative atmosphere as people exploded with costumes for Carnevale.
Explored the Streets
Loved the winding streets! Just incredible. You never know what you might find...

Enjoyed the Carnevale Atmosphere
This was also Valentine's Day, which made a nice change from spending the last two in an airport between countries:) Completely unconventional (the best kind!).
 |
We had fun stopping in a lot of mask stores and
saw some incredible works of art |
 |
| So many cool options! |
 |
| The streets were packed during Carnivale! |

Explored the Side Canals
I fell in love with all the little canals that move through and around the city. Love love love.

Carnevale
We went during the last weekend of the carnival for the finale, and it was overflowing with people and so fun! There were costume contests in St. Mark's Square and just a general atmosphere of fun and festivity. It was cold, and well worth it.

We came to a standstill on our way to St. Mark's Square,
which is where the costume contests are held |
 |
These ladies got tired of giving instructions to the masses
and got creative :) |

Beautiful Burano
The colours of Burano made the short vaporetto well worth the trip.
We were surrounded by so many vibrant colours.

Window Shutters!
We loved this. They already have a McDonalds in Venice.
Why do they need one here? Ugh don't get me started!
 |
| Zac: climbing trees since he could walk |
 |
| Zac was particularly fond of photo bombing my pictures |
 |
| Boats! |
 |
| These are the kindof places I could spend hours in! |

Grand Finale, Grand Canal
With all that was going on, we almost didn't take a float down this iconic canal, if you can believe it. I really loved wandering the winding streets and we spent a fair amount of time enjoying this, but on our last night, we hopped on a vaporetto and took the boat to St. Mark's for the finale of Carnivale. It was so gorgeous, I couldn't believe we had almost missed it!
